Old Orchard Beach, ME (May 24th, 2013) – It’s the weekend and a long one at that. Its been months in the making and Tami and I for the first time are rolling the RV to the coast of Maine. We both pashionally watched the weather forecast morning-noon-night for a week prior to see what kind of clothes to pack based on the weather forecast.
Well the weekend came and has now passed, so it was rainy for most of the weekend. In addition to the rain with some serious downpours, it was cold and windy to boot.
Anyway, we decided to start the journey and head out. It really didn’t start to rain till we got to Maine but when it started it was like being in a shower that didn’t turn off. We stopped at the closest local grocery store from the campground called Paradise Resort (www.paradiseparkresort.com) to get food and last-minute supplies for the weekend together. Just so you know, I really didn’t know if the refrigerator worked or not. As I had no way of testing this appliance or others in the RV, not having 30amp service available before. Sooooo…. we took 2 coolers and loaded them up with ice just in case the fridge didn’t work.
With that said, we packed movies to watch on the newly installed flat screen TV and gaming sound system made for a computer. All this was driven by the DVD player Marcus had around his room. Both the reidge and TV system worked fantasic!
WiFi was available and Tami and I used it a lot during our stay. It came in handy being inside when its raining out. Can’t live without Facebook, right?
Sunday afternoon comes and the sun is trying to break through the clouds and warm us up. It did enough for me to try to open the awning on the camper. Who knows the last time this thing has seen the rays of any sunshine. When I bought the motor home last fall, the owner said that the awning wouldn’t open for them. So I took extra care in seeing what maybe a problem/issue. Well after bout 15-minutes, I get the awning rolling out and away from the camper. SUCCESS!!! But not without the smell of some mildew… PEEHUE .. haha
Monday morning came and the sun was out and warming up the day with a slight breeze. Just a perfect spring day if you ask me. We paid for an extra day, but we really wanted not be rushed out in the morning like everyone else and secondly, we picked up Marcus in Portsmouth on the way home from being with his Dad that evening.
All-in-all, it was a relaxing weekend together and a good start to test all the system in the camper. I really would’ve liked to tested the roof AC before the drips of rain hit the 30amp plug at the power terminal of the camp site. Oops
I’ll keep you posted on what I needed to do for rebuilding the power cords or what “fried” in the adapter cord from the water hitting the current. 🙂
